Eddie
Eddie joined the flock in 2022. A blind lutino cockatiel, it took him a little longer to gain his bearings in his new environment, but he’s got it all figured out now. While not without its challenges, his blindness doesn’t slow him down. He’s often the first to dive into snacks!
One of the sanctuary’s best qualities is predictability. The flock members know the daily routine, and while the volunteers rotate from day to day, the schedule of events doesn’t change. Everyone has their own way of doing things, but really it’s all the same each day. Captive birds appreciate this stability, but none more than our visually-impaired flock members like Eddie. He knows when he will be greeted by the next shift of volunteers, when cleaning will occur, and his favorite time of the day: when dinner will be served!
Eddie also happens to be a bit of a snugglebug. After the shift activity has settled down, especially with a full tummy, Eddie loves a quick cuddle with a bit of preening. Sometimes he even takes a little nap while he enjoys some head scritches!
Eddie is a cockatiel, a small parrot whose costs for food, medicine, and toys are approx. $20/month or $240 per year. If you would like to contribute to Eddie’s health and well-being, please click below. Thank You!
