Blizzard & Flurry
Picture a gang of psittacine hooligans—lawless, chaotic, delighting in mayhem and pandemonium. Who comes to mind first? If you guessed Goffin’s Cockatoos, you’re onto something. Blizzard and Flurry embody all that is fabulous and feisty about their kind, and they don’t give two figs about what humans think.
Blizzard is captive-raised and Flurry is a wild-caught Goffin’s; individuals with these histories don’t often mix but these two have held onto their wild origins, complementing one another. These perfect partners are sometimes indifferent, sometimes benevolent, and sometimes hostile to the species that trapped them here. Experiencing horrors few humans can even imagine, we can’t blame them.
Some birds join the MAARS flock broken and we slowly help put the pieces back together. Many others don’t even know they’re birds, so confused by how they were raised that they don’t recognize the nuances of parrot culture. Flurry and Blizzard are “intact” – they know who they are and where they came from. We love and accept them for who they are: a spunky, engaging, and impish duo.
Blizzard and Flurry are medium-sized parrots, the cost for their food, medicine, and toys is approximately $40 a month or $480 a year each. If you would like to contribute to their health and well-being, please click. Thank you!
